water pump for small block Ford. HELP ! ! ! !
I have an '89 Mustang 5.0 destined for my MGA, it currently has a serpentine belt set-up which I need to convert to V-belt.
Does anyone know what CW rotation water pump will bolt right onto the '89 timing cover and work in place of the original reverse rotation pump? Can I use the original '89 timing cover with a CW rotation pump or will that have to be changed as well? Kinda lost here and needing some serious help ! ! ! Thanks ! TC |

Most of the sbf boys use a M-8501-E351S Ford Racing WP.
Can be installed on a '89 Mustang front cover with no problem but you'll have to work out a new pulley/accessory drive arrangement. |

As Graham said, the 351 pump will fit right in. Pulley selection (off set) is going to depend on what balancer and alternator set up you're running. If you're looking to make the motor as 'short' as you can get it, the early style balancer from Speedway will save you about 1 1/2" off the front. I can shoot you the part numbers from my set up if you want them. I built my own alternator brackets using the early 289 adjustment arm for the top.
