so after some research i have found that it will be cheaper and eaer if i could get a Chevy transmission. so i got a Chevy transmission off of a 1994 or 1995 camaros i think it will work. is there any thing i would have to do to get it to fit to my olds 215

Not the best ratios for the 215.

You need to look at the "how it was done" sections of this forum as all these errors would then be avoided! Sorry to be harsh but this is the second t5 you have bought. Did you ever call D&D?

i did call D&D several times and they never answer and never call me back. in my last post everyone was telling me i need to change the input shaft and a ford to Chevy adapter and bell housing to get it to fit and work or get a Chevy transmission so i followed there advice and now your telling me the ford transmission is what i should go with. i am not trying to be disrespectful or rude i just need to know for sure this is what i need to do and this is what i need to invest in

Tristan, Do a search on this board and MGExperience. The 93-95 Camaro has the Ford Transmission to bellhousing pattern. 92 and older has the old Chevy/GM pattern that the 215 bellhousing requires. Now you have 2 trans that need an adapter plate. The Ford has a better 1st gear probably 3.35. The 93-95 V6 Camaro has a 3.75, much lower and would require higher(lower numerically) rear gears. Return the Chevy trans and get ahold of D&D and tell them you need their bellhousing with thick adapter for the Ford long input shaft T5. Problem solved.

Tristan,

Sorry to hear you could not get a hold of D&D. The Ford or Chev V8 have better ratios for use with the stock diff and a Buick 215 than the V6 T5.
I have an earlier Ford V8 T5 and its great. Uses a Chevy bell housing and a plate between the trans and bell. D&D has a new bell housing that should enable you to use the new 93 and up Ford T5 but you need to keep calling them to find out for sure.
Keep trying them!

If you look at the 4 bolt pattern that goes to the bellhousing, both trans have the Ford pattern. The 215 stock 4 speed bellhousing used a much wider pattern. You would need a thinner adapter with the Chevy V6 trans and a thicker one with the Ford trans. There are 2 different 215 patterns (and a somewhat rare dual pattern). 3 speed and the wider 4 speed. D&D has adapters for both. Maybe their new bellhousing is available in Ford pattern too. You would still need an adapter(spacer) for the long input shaft. Here are pictures of small GM V6 bellhousing transmission patterns. The first one is an early S10(before 92) that had the early wide pattern same as 215. The other one is 93-95 Camaro/Firebird that used the Ford pattern slanted.
