O.E colors for a 62 Buick 215 V8?
Seeing a lot of different colors out there, anyone know the rhyme or reason behind why some 215s have a silver hammered or crackle finish on the valve covers and others do not? Also some have black air cleaners and some have silver or a greenish color. trying to restore a 62 Buick wagon, thanks

I have one set of Buick 215 valve covers on my car, plus a spare set. They both left the factory with a galvanized but unpainted finish. You know... the metallic color of zinc. I didn't especially care for that look, so I had them powdercoated satin black.
Original air cleaner? I seem to recall that mine was black, but it's been 25 years since I discarded it. |

I rescued a 300 from a '64 LeSabre and it had a silver paint job, galvanized valve covers and black air cleaner. Perhaps the Skylark engine was green but in the big car it was indeed silver.
