MT/ Indy X-ram IR intake for 215/RV8, what next ?

Rare, big n' nasty ! Ports are 340 Buick size, with 50mm round/unported inlets. I refuse to "live" with (4) DCOE webbers, so maybe slide-plate/Hilborn injection ? This manifold desires ported TA heads, in a racing environment. What inches ? Seems like 5L. might be wise, considering a possible vintage/something class. Suggestions ? Thanks, roverman.

Be aware, most Hilborns have no idle circuits.

Thanks, One trick is mount a small return fuel tank, "near" the engine. What I need now, is a semi-retired pattern maker,to school me or build ,"core boxes", for this manifold. It is, match plate tooling. Individual cores, for each runner, might be an option. I "shan't" re-finance my home, to make this happen ! Anybody ? Cheers, roverman.

this thread needs photos

(and you need EFI, even if it takes a lot of trickery to pull off a retro look)

Hillborn must have return to tank. Mixture strength is controlled by "pill" (orifice) in return line. " If it ain't smoking black smoke at idle, it ain't gonna run." Pretty much single purpose system. Drag race.

This guy's Hillborn is well sorted for roadracing, but I know it took a lot of work to get it that way: Girvin's Allard.

Now imagine a finned aluminum cover set real low between the two rows of throttle bodies with fuel rails, injectors, and injector wiring all hidden away underneath. Perhaps you could sneak in some IAC plumbing too, to achieve a civilized idle.

8" runner length, cross ram. I suspect a "small" advantage to wet stack, mech/Hz injecting. I envision cast aluminum air plenum, each bank, over thrumpets/nozzels ? To be continued, likey as a race motor. Thanks, roverman.

I forgot! It's near twin, is on cover of HOT ROD Mag, May 1970,(behind the suit). Looks like it's on a 215 based motor. Currently this cover is posted on "V8Buick" site. My MT manifold is one pc. Cheers, roverman.

Ports at head juncture, average .97" x 1.99", un-ported. I'm not sure if this equates to 64' ,300 or ? Onward, roverman.

1964 Buick 300 intake port measures 1.75" tall but 1" wide unported. Dan

Perhaps now is a good time, to state our ported port inlet sizes ? Say 300/340 ? I suspect this "Indy", has .240" added at the top. I heard 66', 340 is larger than 65' ? Onward, roverman.

Hi clan, Can anyone help me find Mickey's use of this manifold at Indy ? Vintage is likely 62'-64' ? I'm going to complete the tooling and casting, of this cool and effective, piece of racing history. It will be sized at the head juncture to fit unported TA heads,(close to ported rovers), and will easily open to ported TA and 64'/300 ports. Electronic injector nubs, for each runner, will be located underneath the manifold,(runner are "straight shot" into the head). Cheers, roverman.

1962,in the one car Dan Gurney drove that year. I don't know if maybe someone may have tried to qualify that car in 63 but the Buick v8 didn't make the race again.

Seems logical, I would machine mountings for aftermarket, Hz fuel rails. Anyone have a "300", intake manifold width ? Onward, roverman.
