Clutch bleeding problem: Almost done then suddenly no pedal at all
I was anticipating driving my B 5.0 T5 this weekend and I only needed to bleed the clutch. I am using the stock MGB clutch cylinder along with an external slave cylinder, I think from a Nissan. It was cool enough this morning for my wife to help. After abuot 15 minutes we had good clutch pedal and only needed about 1/4 inch of movement to be done. We did another down open-close then up and all the pedal went away. No movement at the clutch at all. I checked for leaks at the hose and don't find any. Now with every pump of the pedal a big burp of air comes out. before it was just tiny bubbles. After about 30 pumps we gave up.
I have no idea how to trouble shoot but would appreciate any suggestions. The clutch slave cylinder is new but the master cylinder on the firewall is the one that came on the car. |

OK, After some more research, i now see brake fluid ripping on my carpet from the clutch pedal area. I assume that means the MC blew on me?

Keith, You will have an easier pedal if you use a Wilwood 5/8" master instead of 3/4" MGB.

The Horror, the horror! Right when you think you are going to back the car out of the garage for the 1st time under its own power (sans passenger door and windshield :) ) The good news is that it would have probably blown a mile or two from the house on the maiden voyage. better in the garage for sure!
Oh well, this is a nit compared to some of the other challenges Ive had. Ive learned that most things building an MGB V8 take at least 2 tries and often 3. |

Someone told me my second MGB V8 will go together a whole lot quicker and easier than my first one;o)
