What is best year GM T5 tranny for my V8 conversion?

I'm putting a 215 in my TR6 and heard the GM T5 is the best tranny to go with this conversion. Does it matter what year? Does it matter if its from a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder S10, or Camaro? What about an adapter so I can use my rebuilt TR6 overdrive transmission with the Buick 215?

Stephen, Depends on your rear ratio. The V6 T5 has most often a 3.75 first. S10 has too forward of shifter and 4 cyl has low 4.03 first. There are some 3.5 and 4.03 Camaro V6 T5 also. The Camaro V8 T5 has a 2.95 first and is available with .63 and .73 OD ratios. I like the Ford Mustang T5 ratios a little better, V6 and V8 3.35 first, most .68 OD, V6 94-97 had .72 OD. Mustang T5 94 and newer have a longer input shaft. D&D has an adapter for the Ford T5.
