302 Engine mounts

I spent the weekend making motor mounts. After working 2 days I ended up cutting them off because the engine just sat too high. I was using the method of channel stock and a pancake rubber mount. To get the engine where i want it the frame the connections would have to be welded to the front cross member instead of the frame.
Any articles or advice on an easy mounting system?
Thanks,
JB

John, this came up on another thread a few weeks back, take a look at the mounts used on a 302 here. [forum.britishv8.org]

I used some 1 3/4" dom tube and poly bushings - 3" long. Flat stock for brackets. My motor is set pretty low.
