Rotation of 4.6 Rover crank and relation to Ford differential...

In my research of the Mega Squirt system I read that most engines rotate clockwise while SOME are CCW...
According to my 4.6 service manual the Rover is a CCW rotation engine. As my Ford rear is designed for a CW rotation engine wont I end up with 5 speeds in reverse and 1 forward gear??? What are you 215 thru 4.6 guys running for a diff?

Nothing is ever easy 'eh???

Project Silver Bullet. 4.6 Rover backed by D&D bell with Camaro V-8 T-5 in a standard cab short bed Ranger, formerly a 2.3 4cyl.

Thanks,
Mike

Rest assured that both Rover and Ford V8 crankshafts rotate the same direction.

Perhaps the confusion comes from where the crank position sensor is mounted? (Whether the engine spins CW or CCW depends on whether you're looking at it from the front or the rear, right?)

Thank you Curtis! I'm relieved to know it is indeed CW rotation. I have a service manual on disc and when looking at engine details I saw an arrow following the front main crank journal clearly pointing in a CCW direction. When I saw it I checked an original SUNTUNE tuneup chart for a 1963 Buick Special 215 V8 which appears to show the crank rotation as CCW and the distributor rotation as CW so I got a little worried... : ) I feel MUCH better now!

Mike
