timing cover/ oil filter dilemma

hi guys, been a while. i'm mocking up my turbo charged 300 and have run into a problem. i'm using Sanderson shorty headers and have swapped sides so they are facing forward. drivers side will be fine but the passenger side wont clear the oil filter and is close enough that I cant fit a remote filter adapter. it's my understanding there were timing covers made that pointed the oil filter down or forward. can anybody shed some light on what might work..i'd like to not have to cut the header apart if I don't have to.

Not sure this one will clear, but this is the swivel adapter sold by D&D

I'd also be checking for routing/exhaust clearance up front - rad hose, sway bar and steering rack all want to occupy that same space.

Have you considered using a stock, iron exhaust manfold?

I would consider the stock divided outlet iron manifolds as well Paul.
They actually are pretty good.
Turbochargers and tubular headers don't usually play well together after a while.

I test fitted the stock manifolds first and the passenger side would hit the cross member and the drivers side was right on the steering box. I stopped by a friends shop today that is a long time Buick nut and restorer, I mentioned my issue to him and he pulled a dusty part off a shelf, evidently it had been there for many years.. turns out it's a early Rover oil filter housing and it is exactly what I need. I plan on having the headers ceramic coated and the car will just be a fun toy that might see 500 miles a year if all the planets align properly

Cut the headers and build them with the correct alignment. Pointing the outlets down and away from the turbos just increases plumbing complexity and creates more opportunities for the exhaust flow to slow down and lose energy before it gets to the turbo. Given the amount of effort you will have in this project, using the wrong headers is kind of silly.

I agree that the exhaust should be plumbed as directly as possible to the turbo. One argument is that short and direct plumbing is better than any concerns about tube length and separation, which is probably true for maximum output, but not for economy. Doesn't sound like you care about economy, in which case shorter would be better.

it's a single Turbo system. room and clearance take front seat to all the other considerations. total length of the U bend off the passenger side will be aprox 12-14" long and sized to keep exhaust gas velocity high. the crossover tube will be correctly sized as well. there needs to be enough room before the turbo but after the Merge to allow for a waste gate and related plumbing. there are many many systems out there with far more complex routing that I have in mind that make far more HP than I am shooting for. maximum output isn't even a factor for me with this project. looking for a realistic and street friendly 450 hp and will easily attain that. it's a very common design and very much like the picture attached except I wont have a 180* bend on the passenger side..
