Engine height and positioning question . . . ?
Posted by: TeamEvil

I'm mocking in the Ford engine on my MGA and was wondering if I place the engine higher than stock, on a rearward down angle, do I rotate the pumpkin to match the angle of the engine?

I know that there are certain "rules" that neeed to be followed as to engine vs rear end angle and positioning so that the drivetrain doesn vibrate. Keeping the drive shaft in phase (?) and all, but I'm not up on them and need some help !

Thanks for any help or comments or links or suggestions that you can give !

TC

Centerlines should be parallel to each other but offset slightly so centerlines do not lie on same line.

Jim's got it. I just went through this with the GT. Here's a link that helped me; there's a helpful video on it as well: [www.drivelinesnw.com]

And there's a neat app from Tremec that turns your cellphone into a measuring tool: [www.tremec.com] Video here: [www.youtube.com]

Hey, Don - good to see you over here!

If you can make it, come on over to Townsend in October for our informal gathering. [forum.britishv8.org]
