Anyone done a performance increase, like a chip/etc. ? Did these engines get aluminum heads, like GN's ? Will the this blower support more boost ? Thanks, roverman.

Art,

Yes you can! These guys [zzperformance.com] have pretty much everything for the 3800 and I have used them for my blower parts.
They came with cast iron heads which are different then the N/A 3800 engines. The valve covers are different as well.
The blower will indeed support more boost and I went with ZZ perf. modular pulley system which allows you to change pulley sizes without having to press the pulley on/off the blower input shaft.

Older 3800's came with GM/Eaton M62 blowers while the latter models came with a GM/Eaton M90. The M90 is a better blower for performance applications and in stock form you can overdrive it up to about 14,000 RPM (blower input shaft speed), after that blower efficiency drops off.

Bill

The M90 made 16psi+ boost on my 215 Olds.

I had one in my 99 grand prix. I had a smaller pulley, cold air intake, 3" downpipe and a tune. approximately 300 hp.
Car ran 13.8s in the quarter. With better tires possibly could have hit 13.7s. I put 100,000 miles on it and never ever had a mechanical problem with the engine. I considered that motor for my TR6 but went with the lighter LS3

A side note: they sound terrible with loud exhaust. No music, just noise

Great ! Do you have a weight for LS3 ? L67 series II is said to weigh 392 lbs.

This skate board on steroids, was at a show yesterday. I wish I had asked for a ride, but owner and wife, were cleared for launch,(it WAS at an airport). He states 275hp, before tweeking and 1,400 lbs. This must be a G-wiz.....
