Hi, hopfully you have had a look at my mgb 302,but i need some advice when i set out to build this car i wanted lazy v8 power what i actually have is a fairly rev happy v8, happy with power but would like a bit more serenity would a cam change achieve this or do i need 347ci it has a rollin thunder cam at moment with edelbrock performer rpm heads 2.02 inlet valves the engine seems to have a lot of valve train noise which i am told by uk engine builder is normal for this spec of engine, comments please

Nigel, For comparison:
I have '97 Ford roller cam block, standard pistons w/9.0 compression
Comp Cams XE264HR cam, 212/218 duration at .050", .512 lift and 114 degrees lobe separation
Factory fuel injection lower intake manifold with open upper plenum, factory 64 mm throttle body
24# fuel injectors, AFR 165 aluminum heads, 1.94/1.60 valves.
I have valvetrain noise that sounds like a 60's solid lifter engine. From what I read, this is common due to the high
cam ramp rates.
I can't find exactly what the specs are for your engine, but I think the close separation angle, and high lift and I
suppose considerable duration that I suspect you have are the culprits of a "peaky" engine. Going to a milder cam would make it more docile.
At this point, I feel I have considerable power, but cruising driveability. The lumpy idle of an aggressive cam sounds good
at a car show, but is a miserable experience in traffic or cruising through neighborhoods.
