Rover v8 identification?
I have recently purchased a 79 MGB with a Rover V8. The ID# on the drivers side of the engine block is 668D00205A. I can't seem to find this # on any ID sites. Anyone ?

I’ve got some info in my files, Barry. I’ll see what I can find.

Hi Barry this is the link I used tio check mine but I can’t see anything like yours on there, one way to narrow it down is the type of water pump and timing cover. Unless it’s beem changed if you have the later higher pump then that usually denotes 3.9 upwards which is Land Rover and Range Rover sourced Phil |

My list came from Rimmer Bros but has the same numbers as the one Phil posted.
I can’t find your engine number either, Barry. You’re sure about those numbers? |

Re: Rover v8 identification?
Hi guys, where do I find my engine number. I am now interested to find out where my engine came from. I was told my car had a new crate motor in 1988. But who knows. I was told it was a 150hp model. Again, I just don't know.
thanks |

Re: Rover v8 identification?
Hi Barry,
That is not a valid engine number. Might it be a 58D or 60D? A pic would be helpful. Murray, The Rover V8 engine number is on a pad between the middle cylinders on the left side. |
