Suggestions for porting heads
I simply don't have the time to port the heads myself. Anyone have suggestions on a US based outfit that is recommended.
I know I can simply purchase from the wedge shop, but I'd prefer to work directly with the one who does the porting, not the middle-man. I also don't want to spend on a set of F85 heads - I need to keep the Rover heads. Thanks! |

Re: Suggestions for porting heads
Dave, F85 refers to Merlin headsIi suppose. I bought them ages ago to replace my home ported big valve Rover heads to and I was quite surprised how little i gained with them. Sure, on paper they were a major upgrade but even with mild porting they just did not perform. At that time they were reasonable priced, basically the same as having a set of std rover heads ported and machined and fitted with all new parts. The price nowadays is simply silly. Based on my own experience I would not pay that much money.
I am now replacing the Merlins with Wildcat heads. That has not been quite so straight forward as I thought... Sorry, this does not answer your enquiry the least bit :-) |

Worth considering the TA heads? Pretty good unported.

Re: Suggestions for porting heads
Jukka and all, Merlins are pretty "thick", so plan is a 6V-71 blown RV8. Likely a 4L. Going in my 51' Buick, led sled.,( 4" chopped but NO led ) ! Car is to "later" get an RV16. Yes there IS room since it had a straight eight.
