Anyone using Holley Sniper FI?

I’m new here, but not new to MG and Austin Healey. My “new to me” GT V8 is begging for a better fuel delivery system (vapor lock/fuel percolation) not to mention gas fumes in the cab. It’s a Buick 215 with a stroker kit, 266ci. I’ve looked online and know about the Hotwire Rover system, but don’t see them used for sale in my searches. The other options I’ve looked at are the Holley, Fitech and Edelbrock. The Edelbrock system looks to be best overall but I’m not sure they have a manifold that would work. I’ve got a stock Buick 4 barrel manifold running a Edelbrock 500 CFM carb. The Holley and FITech are a bolt on your own manifold setup which is cheaper of course.
If anyone has any experience with any compatible FI system, I’d like to get the input.
Scott

Jeff used to be a FiTech fan. Seems he has been won over by the Holley Sniper.

Well that whole thread is hardly a glowing endorsement for efi.

I'm running an Edelbrock 500 on my 3.5 RV8, and 2bbl Holley on my Rambler.

New fuel hoses - I believe Gates Barricade is the cat's pyjamas - so no fuel smells, the hoses are routed away from heat or wrapped, and the carbs have heat spacers.
With E5, I have no problems.

I also had new fuel hose put in our thirty yo shopping trolley.

They just introduced E10 over here. Apparently a quarter of car owners knew nothing about it... only been in the media for months.... but then a quarter of car owners probably have no idea how their cars work, nor care.
Can still get E5 in larger garages at a premium price, less available out in the sticks.

When I read threads about efi, it always seems to be the same, it's fine for the chaps who can diagnose and modify, not so good for anyone who doesn't want to get into electronics.

There was another thread about this recently [forum.britishv8.org]

Installed a Fitech G0 Street 400hp a couple of years ago
Finally started to play around with the fuel map and optimizing A/F ratios to dial it in to my liking- it's been running fine this summer!

I'm still a carb man, as well, Ivor.

If you guys running fuel injection are happy with it, I'm happy for you. I ran a PowerJection III, for several years. (I know today's units are more sophisticated and work better.) It never ran as well as I thought it should have. I was continuously hooking up my computer to try to tune out the issues. Finally, the ECM ceased to work at all. It went into some kind of limp home mode and would not respond to the laptop at all. However, it does look really cool hanging on the wall next to my dead MSD Digital E-Curve Distributor. I now run an HEI distributor and an Edelbrock 750. The engine has never run better and I am much happier.

I'm putting a sniper efi on the sprite. Have experience with them and they are well thought out and friendly in my experience with them on friends and other project cars.

I have an older "Fast Fuel" 4 bbl. efi. Anyone with personal experience with these ?
Thanks, Art.

Art, my buddy has been running the FAST system for about 10 years now. He is making 327hp at the rear wheels out of his 4.9L stroker rover. It has big valve Buick 300 heads, and about $10K in engine work. It idles well, does not stink of fuel, and makes the same peak hp as his previously very well sorted carb did. It makes about 10hp more consistently every where else. He drives it to work during the summer. It behaves that well even making that huge hp number. The FAST system has had some teething pains over the years. He has done a couple of cam changes, and it had to relearn. One time the program just disappeared on him and it had to be reprogrammed. He has been talking about doing a Sniper system next. Block is currently getting top hat liners and is disassembled. He is one of those guys that throws several thousand dollars at his car every year, but in his defense, he drives it a lot. I just picked up a slightly used Fitech 600 system that was running on a lightly modified 3.5L. I plan on using it on a 4.6 along with the Fitech fuel command center I picked up previously. The FCS was new in box, but left over from a neighbors drag car project. Between the two systems, I'm into it for around $450. Ideally I would like the 400 system, but when you bottom feed, you take what you can get.

I'm seriously considering the FI Tech, 400hp. TBI system,(E85 compatible). I wish to use E85 exclusively,( air/liquid cooled motor).
Local warehouse sells them, $869. complete system .
Thoughts please ? Thanks, Art.

I went a different route,8 injectors in the hat,(JoBlo) 8 injectors in the manifold, 8 coil packs,water/meth, all run by FuelTech 550
It’s been a nightmare to tune, but getting there, the throttle response is absolutely amazing,
I don’t post much, but I do check in every day,and I’ve learnt so much from here
THANK YOU

Sorry no sound clips…..yet
I snapped a blower belt, (1/2” pitch by 2”” wide) so in the process of converting it to 14mm pitch, (50mm wide)
The 14mm belts are a lot stronger, I don’t want to go to 3” wide belts, but if I have to I will,, it just means a fair bit of fabrication
