35DE8 distributor & ignition cutoff
I'm doing a conversion using the engine from an SD1, and I'm planning to use the original 35DE8 distributor. In addition to the black/white low-voltage wire to the coil, it has a black/red wire which was routed through the ballast resistor to the oil pump switch on the SD1, to cut off the ignition in case of an oil pressure drop. Can anyone tell me what should be the state of this wire during normal operation - hot, open, grounded?

Re: 35DE8 distributor & ignition cutoff
Hmmmm ... good question! I was under the impression that the switch just cut the fuel pump off but ... in order to bypass it we always just bridged the connection .. ie the two wire that go to the outside two poles of the switch were disconnected from the connector and joined, leaving the centre pin connected for the oil light switch .. so I am assuming that it is a ground.
I hope this helps! Shaun |
