I’m going to do it myself. If I get stuck i can take it over to a local shop. Getting it out was probably the harder part. Getting it back in will be fun as well.

I’m inclined to do it myself and buy a few more tools to make it easier. I’ve got a hydraulic press (cheap harbor freight thing) so I just need a few attachments to press on the new bearing races. It’s all about learning how to do a new thing. Ford 8 inch, new to me, but not new to a lot of people here.

Thanks Carl,
I’m about to start putting it back together. I finally got the old bearings off the Powertrax LS unit. Didn’t have the right bearing removal tool. Got the new bearings installed. So, we’ll start putting it back together tomorrow.
