Crankshaft surface hardening???
I have aROver 4.6 crank that I am going to have the rod journals offset ground to give a 3.4" stroke.
I was wondering if the factory did any nitriding, tuftriding, other other surface hardening on these cranks? Im guessing that any offset grinding would cut through what little penetration there is .. requiring another round of treatment. |
Re: Crankshaft surface hardening???
Hi Tony,
Although some later cranks were treated at the factory most were not. I would always recommend Tuftride if budget allows, especially on an 86.36 offset ground crank. Are you building yourself a 4.8? or are you going for 5.0 with bigger bores? Shaun |
