Rover timing cover with distributor and crank driven oil pump?
I am trying to determine what year Rover engines had a crank driven oil pump and a distributor. I am installing sequential fuel injection on my Buick 300 and need distributor provision for my camshaft position sensor. Since my engine will be turbocharged I'd like to use the better style oil pump if possible. Any recommendations on where I could purchase such a part?

It is called the interim front cover or timing cover. Not sure on the years.
Rimmer Brothers say these engines: 35D08928B, 36D25155B, 37D02090B, 38D27238B & 40D09582B on. [rimmerbros.com] |

Rob you will have to modify the crank damper snout for the gerotor oil pump too. Here is an article on using Buick parts:

I think he only needs to make the woodruff key slot longer to drive the oil pump.

Carl, If on a Rover motor you would be right. I think the Buick 300 damper hub needs to be modified. Maybe shortened? The Buick gear is different and rides on the damper hub. When he gets all the pieces I hope he lets us know.

Use of the Buick GN V6 cam sensor with the early cover is also and option if you can find one at an affordable price.

The interim cover is found on late 1994 and 1995 3.9 and 4.2 engines.
I have a spare if you need one. As others have said, you need to machine the crank keyway longer. |

TurboDave,
Thank you for the info. I'd definitely be interested in your spare cover. |
