I got my hands on a 1962 tr4. It had a 351W In it but was replaced by a 2.3 ford four cylinder. I am Interested in putting in a 327 chevy small block that i have laying around. Does anyone know a site or any info that will help me with motor mounts, any vehicle bracing, will the rear end hold up to 325hp and is it a posi. Any info would help i will also post pics as the project progresses. Thanks

Ryan, you've probably already found the best forum for information on your conversion. There's only one TR4 with a chevy in the photo section and that's a big block, but there is probably some information from that that would transfer over to your project. There are a lot of options for motor mounts, you'll have to fabricate them yourself anyway. I think something like these sold by Speedway Motors would be close to what you need and also allow more clearance around the engine for headers etc.[www.speedwaymotors.com] As for the rear axle, is it the original axle or some type of replacement. I suspect it's a replacement as the 351 would be a lot of power for a stock axle and the original gear ratios weren't the best for a conversion anyway. Check it out.

Fabricating mounts isn't very tough. The most time consuming part is leveling the block and making sure it's all set up before tacking them in. It's actually pretty fun.

Check with Ted Lathrop at Fast Cars, Inc. in Michigan. He has a nice TR6 with the SBC and can answer most of your questions.
