Ron Hopkinson sway bars
In the parts boxes that came with the junker 67 GT was a Ron Hopkinson sway bar kit with a beefier front sway bar and an add-on rear sway bar. In one of the back issues (way, way back) of Practical Classics, I seem to recall that there were some problems associated with the rear bars' drop link. Something about it being too small or having a design flaw of some kind. Does anyone recall something similar? I notice that the Hopkinson kits aren't for sale anymore.
Would it be worth the effort (improved handling vs. extra work) to salvage this kit to use on a 74 GT? I was thinking of making stronger drop links, IF that was the heart of the problem. |

Re: Ron Hopkinson sway bars
I've used these sway bars on 4 different MGBs and experienced almost no problems. I did make new drop links for the rear sway bar on one of my cars.... because of changing the ride height and controlling a heavier Ford 8.8" rear end.
