Jag 420 and XJS rear end differences?

Hi,

Does anyone know to what degree parts from a 60's Jag 420 IRS rear end (with 3:87 ratio) and a later (late 70-80's) XJS model (with a 2:88) rear end are interchangable? In particular I'm wondering if the the carrier, pumpkin, gear sets etc...can be swaped over? I'm trying to easily put the 3:87 from the 420 in to the XJS case if possible. Otherwise I'll just swap out the complete IRS. Total rear axle lengths (56 vs 61.75 inches) are different but I think I can make either work in my modified MGB.

Neil
