Looking for a catalog of poly bushings
One of the bushings on my IRS is wearing already (14k miles). The steel sleeve is getting ovaled on the inside.
The current bushings are pete & jakes. Petty sure they're rubber. Thinking I'll try polyurethane or delrin but haven't found them in the size I need. Anyone know of an online catalog with dimensions? |

Thanks Jim. I found a table on their site with all the dimensions and part numbers - exactly what I was after!
I also found that I can get Delrin bushings made to spec for about $6 each. I'm considering that - I'm assuming the bushings are flexing causing the bolt to run on the sleeve causing the wear. Felton should eliminate the flex. But, cost will be 2-3x once I get the bushes and sleeves. Speaking of sleeves, know of a source to get hardened ones? |

Sounds like your sleeves are moving on the bolt Rob.
They shouldn't. When done up, the sleeve should be clamped tightly with no opportunity for movement. Hardened sleeves are available but not needed. You will be fixing a symptom and not the real problem. Cheers Fred |

OK, that makes sense Fred. This pic shows the one that is wearing and there is a slight gap between the bushing and the upright - not enough for a grade 8 washer (that's what I had on hand to try). Short of cutting the LCA apart and rewelding it, can I shim it? If so, mild steel or something else to make the shim?

Rob,
Against everyone's advice I used Delrin bushings on the stock front end of a GT years ago. I loved the feel but they were pushing the harsh side of ride quality. Advantage is being able to get them cut to fit. |

Shim away Rob.
Or better, add the grade 8 washer and trim the sleeves so that you have a very slight compression of the bushing when the bolt is drawn up tight. Is this a test fit shot? As several things look loose. You might want to shorten the coil over bolt. What you're shooting for is a thread protrusion that is 1/2 the nut width. It's a little picky but. It meets all engineering obligations and has a symmetry that is pleasing to the eye. Cheers Fred |

Thanks Fred. Yes, that was an early test fit photo. I wasn't happy with the IRS when I first got it so have made several changes since. The shocks, as one example, no longer lay over at an angle like that. They are way more effective now. Bolts are also sized better too :).
