Butt Hammer Welding
Posted by: cincitr4a

Hello All,
I was just looking at the Randy Schultz TR3 website and he mentioned a metal welding technique called butt hammer welding using oxyacetylene gas welding vs. MIG or TIG welding. I can't find anything more on the web about this. Does anybody know how to contact Randy or some other source of knowledge on this?
Thanks

Check out this article from Rod & Custom...

Essentially, it's just butt welding & working the seam with a hammer/dolly as you go to keep the metal from getting out of shape. the oxy weld is a lot softer than a MIG weld so it's easier to do it that way... but you can use a MIG & achieve the same functional result. No matter what you weld with you need to go very slowly & ensure you're not getting warping...
