Paint is finally on!
It is finally painted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My buddies Paul and Michael came over today to help me get the car off the rotisserie and in paint. We managed to get one clear coat 'coat' on but noticed a few imperfections in it and a couple of sags so I will wet sand them out with 2000 grit before applying another two or more layers of clear coat. Overall I am very happy with the results. The colour is a bit different than what I thought it was going to be but the more I look at it the more I like it. What a long haul to get to this point. I am very happy the bodywork part is almost over. Then the fun begins.... |

Re: Paint is finally on!
Fred, funny you should mention that. We have a four car garage and neither of our daily drivers are ever parked in it! I should have built a six car garage....
Thanks Carl and Rob. I think 'almost done' is a bit of a stretch but as soon as it's wet sanded and the paint cured I am going to be going full tilt on reassembly...to the extent my bank account, wife, and children allow. Cheers, Chris |

Chris
Looks fantastic!!! Remembering the feeling of seeing all of that effort finally in paint, almost makes me feel like building another car. Now putting it all back together without Scratching it.. Great Job Joe |

Re: Paint is finally on!
Thanks Joe. Your car and Rob's were my inspirations for the flares. Thank you for paving the way!
I will start getting excited once all the imperfections are sanded out. I cleaned the daylights out of my shop multiple times and wet the floor but still got some dust, or maybe it's water in the clearcoat (I used two different air filters on my compressor but it was running a fair bit). Oh well, I don't think it's anything that a bit of elbow grease won't fix. Cheers, Chris |

Re: Paint is finally on!
Thanks guys.
Jacques, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I felt like I was sanding and prepping for months...oh wait, I was! Then I would find a flaw in the body work and start all over again. Don't worry, you'll get there eventually. Then you can have fun scratching and chipping the new paint as you assemble the car!!! Cheers, Chris |

Re: Paint is finally on!
Chris,
Looks absolutely gorgeous! By the progress I expect to see the car in Tennessee. Speed and care in the assembly process. By the way, I have determined through scientific experimentation, at untallied cost, garages do not like daily drivers, and will secretly generate enough “stuff” to fill any void in order to keep them out.
