Trick for cable ends

Came up with something new this weekend while working on Dan's TR7/1UZ conversion. Ever need a heavy cable end in a particular size? With a hydraulic press, some copper tubing, and a drill press it should never be a problem. Strip the wire back an inch or better, cut a piece of tubing the same length, slip it on the wire, stamp it down flat in the press and drill your hole in the end. Better than the ones you buy already made up. You can dress it up to look better if you like in various ways. The bigger hole you need the more you flatten it out, etc. But that's the basic idea and it works great. A little dielectric grease when attaching it is always a good idea.

Worth the extra effort to solder the joint too!

Charles, we used natural and organic aromas when we solder . just a cloud of smoke, :-)
