Want to check out the crowd.
Anybody ever used a product line from Gates called "PolarSeal II A/C Barrier Hose System?

This is neat, you install the fittings on the A/C components, run and cut the hose to fit, install the clamps/crimp rings, then with the special crimpers crimp the clamps in place, that is it.

I found it by searching "polarseal II"

Sounds like Vintage Air Easy Clip. Seemed pricey.
Check out ColdHose.com for good prices on hose and fittings and a decent variety. They also carry reduced diameter hoses and ends. Same size on the inside, much smaller on the outside. (#6 for instance, .900" standard, .700 reduced. Big difference.) More established auto parts stores have hose crimpers, don't charge much for the service.

Jim, without regard to price I find this system, be it Vintage Air or Gates very easy to use. You are correct Gates is about the same as Vintage Air, Summit does carry there product.

I have found a guy very close that does A/C referbs on large trucks and school buses. he always has short runs of hose left over, real good deal on the price. He will most likely have all of the fittings I need.

I have just needed to replace the 20 plus year old evaporator on our B, got the evap, dryer/receiver from Nostilagic Air. The unit they sell is sized to fit the standard foot well area. I did need to make some local adjustments.

My a/c is working better now that I did some more exhaust heat shielding.
but It still has room for improvement

Just now able to check out my new evap. setup. Top up windows closed 66 MGB V6 engine, out side temp. 97F 92% humidity,. After about 3 miles the inside center vent shows 45.2F, was able to adjust temp. to be about 50F and it held real close cycling compressor on and off. Cabin feel cool.
Engine temp. staying between 195 and 205F.

11X19X7/8 Nostalgic Air part # 44-1119. I am also using their evap. unit with heat made for the foot well in the MGB.

We do custom A/C hoses all the time. Hose and fittings are available from our local NAPA store. Lay it all out and then take the hoses in to get them bubble crimped. Easy Cheap and Effective. Gives you a professional result at a reasonable price.

Fabbed my own from a Kia evap, and condenser, used a compressor from a Toyota Tacoma, and a blower from a freightliner package car, put the right side pedal box to good use, details in my project journal.
