MGA B Pillar fitting

Working on placing new B Pillars on my project MGA but when I test fit them the small horizontal arms pointing to the rear of the car do not touch the body. They are are off the body by about 3/4". I am certain they should be touching or they will not hold for welding, but it is the same on both sides. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Richard you are corrct, the triangular shaped reinforcements should touch the body. I didn't have to replace the entire B post on my MGA only the lower couple of inches in my case. Here's a couple of photos that might help you see how the B post fitted on my car.
