Does anyone have a sourc for LED Fog lamps same size as Lucas beehive turn signal
I'm building a 1958 Volvo PV444, which uses Lucas beehive front turn signal, similar to big Healey, etc.
I'd like to replace these with LED foglights, as I'm planning to run LED headlights with the turn signal inside the headlight. Does any one know of a source ? ( I'll be wiring them in the proper fashion, using a relay actuated by the parking/running lights, so that they will function without the low beams to avoid reflection back to the driver's eyes ! The feds haven't a clue about real world driving....) |

Hunt down some projector style fog lights Doug.
They were very common a few years ago and can still be found with a little looking. Nearly a perfect fit, and they can be disassembled to fit in place of the original light. Some minor mods and the original bezel will probably finish it off. Small compact light. Fully weather proof. Has a nice flat pattern and is readily converted to HID or LED bulbs. Just did a search for "led projector foglights" on google.
The selection that came up is phenomenal. Should be able to find the perfect one there. |

I used those on a dirt bike once (enduro). Pretty durable but bulb selection was limited to about 25 watts. (halogen)

These ones use the common H1 bulb, available in halogen up to 130 watts.
Up to 45 watt LED conversions are available (250-300 watt halogen equivalent, depending upon who you ask) I think that the dedicated LEDs are a better choice though. Something like this Morimoto 70mm light from The Retrofit Source. More expensive than others, but in my experience, superior quality and service Live like you mean it. Fred |
