Hi Curtis
The engine in this small British Turner Sports Car is a dry sumped Cosworth built all steel short stroke all steel 1824cc Ford X/Flow,tiny compared to the big V8s.
Its built to scream its head off over 10,000rpm,it has a Cosworth steel crank, steel rods, huge valves, roller rockers the whole damn works,on the dyno it revved near on 11,000 rpm on a race fuel mixture of 108 octane.BHP came near to 234 @ 9600 rpm, with Torque around the 165ibs mark. The stainless steel manifold system is a work of art helping this little beast breath well.
Performance figures are exciting with 0-60mph coming up in 2.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 10.78 seconds, the car only weighs 485 kilos so these bike speeds are due to good power to weight ratio.
The whole body unclips to show a mass of spaceframe tubes, rosejoints and raw polished alloy with hundreds of rivets,it looks like an old pair of Edward Green shoes, you would love it.
Our magazine did a 10 page feature on this car titled Head Turner and can confirm its bloody quick, the owner says he races it like a big Go Kart because of its 50/50 balance, brave man.
This racing Turner will be competing around the UK circuits in 2010 under the banner of the HMSA Historic Modsports and Saloon Association. 07818-063543. historicmodsportsandsaloons.com
There are many beautiful big V8 Modsports and Special Saloons joining this car in races so it will be fun seeing proper race cars doing battle once again.
