Tullius TR 8 at GP Classics
I went to see the Group 44 car today. Alas my first mistake was pulling up in my 2006 "Scion"where they could see it. This precluded me from wine tasting with models for servers. My spy photos are very limited as the lot person pulled all six pins on the hood, but was stopped by the owner. We were'nt allowed to "touch" the cars. "GP Classics", current owners claim it's exactly as it came after it's last race in 81'. I think it;s too pretty and expen$ive to race anymore. But so inclined, you could spend another $ 5-25k, to bring everything current, and have a real rocket ship. Maybe parade laps ? Pictures soon to follow. If this car sells for even remotely close to it's asking price, I should put my car on consignment there. Cheers, roverman.

Re: Tullius TR 8 vs Huffaker
IMHO, The Tullius car defines the difference in rules for this class between SCCA and IMSA,in the early 80's. IMSA being professional spec. was more liberal in modifications. Things like wider 16" wheels and wider track width. I've also read these cars were allowed to move the suspension pick-up points. Huffaker cars still had the original dash/modified and upolstered door panels. I look at the molded, un-padded fiberglass "bucket" in the Tullius car, and think, it better fit real snug, or your going to get beat up. My Corbeau GT seat,(original), looks like a "Lazy Boy" for a race car, by comparison. Cheers, roverman.

Re: Tullius TR 8 at GP Classics
Art, I have pictures of the car being repainted in 1982 with Jaguar XJR5s in the back ground so as just coming off the track would be a little off! It even has brand new goodyears on it without any lettering, numbering or other decals just stripes.

Re: Tullius TR 8 at GP Classics
You can see the XJR5 in the back of the shop. The car has no letters, numbers or sponser/race organization decals. It has the jacking pooint cut-outs so its the #44 TR8. It also has a "TR8" windscreen banner which when it raced never had but "Triumph" with a TR8 badge on the nose and one on the tail. The notion of right off the track.....its still an awesome car but for the money one a richie-ritch trying to get into the Group 44 click will buy it and well show it at shows or historic racing venues. Too bad.

Re: Tullius TR 8 at GP Classics
Not being a Concour Judge, I would have thought 95 points, as presented at GP Classics ? Do they show cars like this, at the "Ridler" ? I am humbled by my miniscule budget. Onward, roverman.

" I am humbled by my miniscule budget."
Seems to me that is pretty much what this site is all about. Some have been lucky enough to see their budget greatly expanded, most have not. But we press on regardless, and it is fun to see what money can do, even if not within our grasp. Jim |

Clan, While humbled, I'm still glad as hell, I never sold this car, when I was practically dirt poor. Ol' 88 and I, are goin to have a lot of thrills together. Cheers, roverman.
