MG Vintage Racers at Mid-Ohio Oct 12-14
Were you there?
I'm told that over 100 MG racecars participated, including even pre-war cars. Apparently Les Gonda dominated the "Fast Cars" class in his MGB-GT V8... If you have photos, PLEASE post them here! - If you're interested in writing a column about racing for our newsletter... WE NEED TO TALK!!! (this photo was taken at Watkins Glen...) |

I'm trying to get a regular column started-up in the Newsletter for race cars...
Hopefully the car shown above will be featured in our December issue. The owner/driver is Les Gonda of Virginia, and he's been VERY successful with it. For some reason, getting detailed photos from racers is about as hard as getting Mr. Carl Floyd to write a How-It-Was-Done article! For that reason, my first idea was to recruit Max Fulton as a columnist... he already knows these guys, and he certainly knows a lot more about racing than I do, plus I REALLY liked Max's Nelson Ledges article for the last Newsletter issue. I'm not holding my breath though. Max says he wants to finish his own MGB V8 before he starts writing a column for us. In the meantime, you might get a kick out of this car (previewed below) that I'll be adding to the Photo Gallery very shortly. It belongs to Lorenz Hassenstein, and has a bored-and-stroked Rover displacing 5L. The full version of that How-It-Was-Done article will DEFINITELY appear in our December issue. |
