Been wonderin bout Indy cars...
I picked up and scanned a book yesterday about the 1995 CART IndyCar season. It was written that same year, and two particular factoids in the "constructors" section caught my eye. As of 1995: (1) Penske had been building Indy car chassis for twenty years from their base in England, and (2) Lola Cars had already built over 300 Indy car chassis for their many customers.
Where are they now? It seems to me like vintage-racing of Indy cars ought to be far more popular than it is... What am I missing? |

Re: Been wonderin bout Indy cars...
Curtis, there is an association for vintage Indy and Champ cars running around the country. I saw information on one of their meets at the track in Milwaukee sometime last year and got some information. Check out their web site for future events. [champindycar.com]

Re: Been wonderin bout Indy cars...
Interesting link, Bill. Looks like they only get in two or three race weekends a year. I hope that grows...
Here's the craigslist ad Art referenced: [inlandempire.craigslist.org] It's a hoot! (If this car ever raced in the Indy 500, I'm Al Unser Jr.) |
