Getting LinkedIn with BritishRacecar

With over 100 featured cars and 28 vendor ads on the BritishRacecar website, I figure it's time to begin leveraging our collective human "horsepower". LinkedIn facilitates networking. It might be helpful to anyone trying to build a racing career or business. It might help racers find specialist suppliers or sponsorships. Crew members, corner workers, and race fans are all welcome too. This might be fun. It's free. Let's give it a try.

YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN!

Group name: "BritishRacecar"

Page: [www.linkedin.com]

Logo: BritishRacecarEnthusiasts.jpg (Members may choose whether this appears in their personal profiles.)

Summary statement:
Quote:
The BritishRacecar LinkedIn group facilitates networking between professionals and enthusiasts in fields related to racing, preparation, and restoration of British racing cars.

Description statement:
Quote:
For over fifty years, British sports car manufacturers and bespoke racecar constructors supplied winning cars for nearly every class of road racing from local club races right up to Formula One. BritishRacecar.com documents and celebrates those constructors, their products, and all the people who keep the cars on track. Now, through LinkedIn, both professionals and enthusiasts will have tools for helping each other develop professionally, discover employment and career opportunities, and grow our businesses.

Membership: "open" (at least for the time being. The "BritishV8" group was previously set up as "members only". I figured choosing open for BritishRacecar will let me learn pros and cons.)

Your thoughts? I'm very much a newbie in all things LinkedIn, but I'm sure there are some very experienced LinkedIn users here. Please don't hesitate to step forward with tips and suggestions so we all might get the most out of LinkedIn resources.

I've been active on LinkedIn -'at least in the IT industry it's been a great way to hear about opportunities - especially when I was considering switching companies. No idea how active it is outside of "mainstream" business type topics.

I signed up I think in '07 at the request of a friend but never used it. Maybe it is time for an upgrade, eventually.
