WTB Seeking a Unicorn? TR8 / SD1 Salisbury LSD / Posi
I'm looking for a Salsbury limited slip.
I know I can buy a quaife that is great until I raise a wheel, so not ideal for track work. Or I can buy a Gripper, that is great until you open your checkbook to pay $1500 for it! I'm looking for the old-school plate diff that will go into to TR8 axle. Not interested in a Ford swap - as I'd then need to find a good plate style track-worthy LSD to go in that, so I'm back to the start again. I was offered a TR8 axle for $1500 with the salisbury, but I already have an axle, and a crownwheel... If I exhaust every avenue, I'll ultimately buy a gripper for the $1500, not a used axle... So maybe you or a buddy has one sat on a shelf, waiting for a project. Well, have that project, so send me a message! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/25/2018 06:14PM by MGBV8. |

Always wondered what, or even if the TR8 SD1 axle crossed over to other makes and models. If you come up with any info on the axle please post. I've never even been able to find the size of the ring and pinion. My solution for the go fast TR8s has always been to install a Ford 8.8. Got a 31 spline model ready to go into the TR8 coupe with the LS3, but just recently scored a complete independent limited slip 8.8 out of a Superbird. Now I'm rethinking my rear end choice on this beast. For now its getting the solid axle as the control arms are built, the unit has been narrowed and rebuilt, and there is roughly $1000 worth of brakes hanging on it.

You would think after al these years someone would have taken one apart & measured it.
As for rearend choices, there are quite a few, Ford 8 inch. Chevy S10 or Camaro, Dana 44, etc. The Ford 8.8 is a good choice for that LS3. |

I've heard the "late" TR7 is same as TR 8 ? Race car ? Ever need to change ratios/etc. ? Looking at the value, weight and ease of service, you might consider an 8" Ford, again ?
