Well it's about time!
Check it out: Bernie Posey's excellent MGB V8 has been added to the gallery!
Bernie has been enjoying his conversion for eleven years and 150,000 happy miles. The car finally sat still long enough during BritishV8 2009 for me to get twenty photos of it. |

Re: Well it's about time!
Good job Curtis. I am picking Bernies mind with my build up. I did get a chance to go for a ride in a nice silver MGB that he put together for a fella in Tennessee I believe. That made me want mine done even more.

Re: Well it's about time!
Interesting that Bernie had problems with a narrowed 8" ford. My friend John had a narrowed 8" from TSI that grenaded after about two driving seasons. It puked out an axle while driving and wiped out his 1/4 panel.

Re: Well it's about time!
Bear in mind guys, although the 8" does have larger diameter axle shafts, the stock axle runs about a 7-7/8" ring gear IIRC. Don't expect a miracle.
Dana 44 otoh is about 8-1/2" Jim |
Re: Well it's about time!
The 8" that failed for John wasn't abused at all (by him). His driving was mostly sedate with the majority of it being higher speed cruising. I'm pretty sure when it was narrowed the housing end was welded on out of alignment, causing the bearing to fail twice in a short time. Poor workmanship. He now has a gm rear axle from D&D and is very happy.
