Ive built a B V8 with sebring arches, Im looking at using a XJS axle in the rear, Ive read that the alloy bell that carriers the hub restricts suspesion travel. Can any one comment? does any one have any pics of this conversion? are E type drive shafts the correct length? Ive read plenty about shortning the shafts etc... thanks

I've done 2 XJ6 conversions, but I'm not sure how the XJS would work. Doesn't that have outboard brakes? If it does it is a completely different system and no parts interchange with the XKE that I am aware of. On the XJ6 the bells get trimmed on the inside so that the universal joint becomes the limiting factor, these cars have 8" of suspension travel but may sit a little higher (and wider) depending on the suspension setup and tire size.

I used an XJ rear on one of mine. It's held up well and not all that wide. I use Vette wheels on it that I milled out the center hub a little bit so it could fit. It is heavy as heck and doesn't look al that great but it is very smooth and handles well. I just cut the Jag springs for proper height and got it right the first time which is the only time that has happened! The picture is the only one I have that shows the assembly because it got blocked in by the centered gas tank.
Cheers,
Bill
