TR6 electric power steering column (EPS)
[forum.britishv8.org]
On the bottom of the page are some photos! It still needs to be installed into the car, but the EPS is fabed into a TR6 column. Can give a parts list if interested? |

Looking great Calvin! So there's room up under the TR6 dash too? I think you'll love it!

Re: TR6 electric power steering column (EPS)
Hi Calvin;
I'm interested in your electric power steering swap. I've been looking at them and vendors and they are out of this world for price so looking to do my own. I'm building a 1974 TR6, V6 (3.5) T5, Cobra IRS Center section and 4 wheel disc brakes. I'll be attempting to use the Ford Cobra "RED" calipers (13"/10.85" disc's) with the built in e-brake, I've got 16" wire wheels so they should fit. The rack is a quick one so steering will be a bear and adapting a power rack was out of the question. Any help.parts list or photos would be a big help. Also have a 3.9 GM V6 which I'm giving away to anyone willing to pay shipping if you know of anyone. Thanks Don Millspaugh 10477 SE Marlin Cir. Re: TR6 electric power steering column (EPS)
Pick your donor car EPS very carefully. Why buy a Bruno box if it's a set it & forget it situation. Fail Safe mode may be all we need for our LBC.
The Bruno controller is needed for the Saturn Vue, Chevrolet Equinox, etc. do NOT have a factory Fail Safe mode built-in in case it is disconnected from the original vehicle's CAN bus system. Fred Key put an oscilloscope on a Bruno & found out that is about all it does, give the Saturn Vue a fail safe mode (with a potentiometer). According to this tutorial linked below, a Japanese EPS can be used in Fail Safe mode without the need of a Bruno Box & its variable assist. The Saturn Vue steering does not self-center well (Mike Moor has discovered this, as well). The author suggests that a Toyota Prius electric steering ECU could be used on the Vue to correct this, as they have the same torque sensor. Lots of great info. [www.forabodiesonly.com] |
