Re: What is it worth?
If it's truly a 3.9L, should be 2 bolt, with skinny crank. Looks like a 14 bolt deck, but not tapped ? roverman.

Re: What is it worth?
Hey guys,
It's a 3.9L so it has the bosses for the 4-bolt mains but not drilled. Drilling is no biggie since it would have to go to the machine shop anyhow. I think it just has to be honed and replace the rings. What do you guys think I should offer, if it's worth making an offer on? Thanks, NCtim |

Tim
Look at what any other factory new short block costs. Subtract remanufacturing needed ( rehone, etc) might be a fair guess of value. Is it worth more or less than a gm or ford shortblock? I don't know probably more?? but not having any sense of who you are barganing with, I would start low $500?? talk about how much you will have to spend balk at their high bid, ask them who's going to need this kind of engine, maybe get lucky. I would drill it for 4 main cross bolts "right Art?" Let us all know how it turns out!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: What is it worth?
Thanks Dave. I was thinking of offering $400 because the heads are just thrown in. I know I'll have to buy rings and new bearings and such for insurance. I don't even know if the heads are any good. If you think that's a place to start I'm thinking the the same.
I've got a 4.0L 4-bolt main rover and was thinking I'd swap out the motor with this and sell it as a running truck with low miles to fund my project. Cheers, NCtim |
