MGB headrest speakers
I liked the idea of built in speakers in the Miata and Fiero seat swaps. But having a limited budget and wanting to keep a more stock look I came up with this.
Starting with a set of headrest in such bad shape I couldn't tell they were supposed to have a wood strip along the bottom to staple the ulpolstery onto. I ended up using sheet metal screws to attach the cover. I fabricated sheet metal boxes to house the speakers. I split the foam cover lenthwise and opened up the cavities to fit the new speakers and used contact cement to reassemble the two halves. |

Re: MGB headrest speakers
So very, very cool!
Does the third photo show that you tried two different kinds of speakers, or does it show the front and back views side-by-side? |

Re: MGB headrest speakers
Thanks, its front and back views. I wired the drivers side as the front speakers and pass. side as rear speakers so the volume can be adjusted from side to side.

Re: MGB headrest speakers
Thanks for the feedback Rick I'm always open to learning something new. I made the speaker headrest 9 years ago and I'm no audiophile but they do sound fine to me.

Re: MGB headrest speakers
I was talking with Kelvin Dodd (Moss Motors) at the BMTA conference last weekend.
I think he's going to be doing a conversion similar to yours for his MGB. |
