Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
You should consider participating in Moss Motors' 2014 Motoring Challenge. It'll be fun. (Here's a link to their rules.)
I've just noticed that Moss has included a "Club Spirit" award this year. We have an obvious disadvantage because we've always been an "un-club". (No dues. No meetings. No politics. Etc.) But we're highly spirited! And some of us even travel with spirits. And Moss loves us renegade privateers - more than you probably know. I think we should try to win this thing. Now, we're smaller than a lot of clubs. We'll only win if we get a lot of BritishV8 enthusiasts to work together. How? Firstly: if you participate in the Moss Motors' 2014 Motoring Challenge, please put "BritishV8" in the Club Affiliation blank on your entry form. You can put multiple clubs there if you want to. Just remember to include BritishV8. Secondly: when taking your shapshots for the challenge, show off a BritishV8 sticker along with "The cover of the 2014 Motoring Challenge Guide" (as per the rules). Trust me... you'll look smart! Remember: just about every scavenger hunt objective you need to win the Motoring Challenge may be found on the way to or during our BritishV8 2014 annual meet. Finally: why not post your snapshots here? It'll help other people get/stay fired-up to win. |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Lisa is REALLY getting into this! We scored enough photos yesterday for a Moss t-shirt, and we'll get more today. We've gotten "waterfall", "dude ranch" and "ski resort with snow" and we think we're gonna get a "covered bridge" today. "Duck crossing sign" might be tough to find on this trip. I'll post photos when we get home.
As you take photos, post them here. Bottom line: your co-pilots are going to really enjoy this contest! |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
There are LOTS of different ways to score in Moss Motors' Motoring Challenge! You can pose with your car by signs at U.S. states or Canadian provincial border crossings. (Though our plans for this weekend didn't include leaving Colorado.) Or you can collect counties... one for each letter of the alphabet. Or you can collect town names, one for each letter of the alphabet. Or national forests. Or national parks. Or car shows. Or any of a list of 41 miscellaneous "destination" types. Most of those are worth one point each, but some are worth more.
Okay... I'm ready to post some snapshots from just one weekend in Colorado. "County, Parish, or District" Category C: Clear Creek County E: Eagle County G: Grand County L: Lake County |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
One more photo for now...
Tips 1) I heartily recommend laminating your Moss Motoring Challenge 2014 poster in plastic film. 2) If you don't have a lamination machine, your local office supply or copy store will help. My local FedEx/Kinkos has a self-serve machine, and you can buy the film there one sheet at a time. 3) As long as you're laminating that poster, put Moss's list of destinations on the back side. 4) You can check items off the list as you collect them. A Sharpie magic marker will write indelibly on lamination material. 5) Don't forget to wear a BritishV8 shirt and display a BritishV8 sticker in every photo! Why not put your BritishV8 sticker right inside the lamination, as shown above? If there's sufficient interest, I'd like to offer prizes to the person or team who posts the most Challenge photos here on this thread (besides me). If I do though, I'll only give credit for photos that include BritishV8 logos. Interested? |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Curtis - would you clarify how the challenge works with respect to clubs... In particular, if we use the "BritishV8" club, is it a group event or still scored indificually? E.g., since you already got counties with C, E, G, L, & S, are those no longer needed by anyone else? Or does using the "BritishV8" club designation simply ensure it gets mention if/when one of us wins?

Here's how Moss describes the Club Spirit award in their rules:
Quote: So, in other words, Moss will treat your entries as INDIVIDUAL. (My photos above are just examples.) |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Another thing or two...
Moss has a webpage where you can register now. Here's the link: [www.mossmotors.com] (Click on the words "Register for the Challenge".) I've only just now registered. The most apparent advantage of registering before your submission is due in December is that you can earn up to six bonus points. Details about how to get those bonus points are evidently sent our via e-mails. When you register online for the challenge, you'll see that they've provided two blanks for entering club affiliations. (I entered "BritishV8" in both of them!) |

Curtis, isn't the Coors Brewery or Mile High Stadium on the list? Maybe the Dickel or Jack Daniel locations are a required pic from Tn? Would an empty bottle suffice?

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
The list isn't that specific. It just says "brewery". Perhaps next year it will stay "distillery" instead.
Download and read the rules. I bet you'll find there are many exciting and qualifying destinations in your area. Here's our preferred local Destination: Brewery (Left Hand Brewing Company is named for "Chief Left Hand", a.k.a "Chief Niwot", of the Southern Arapaho nation.) |
